Interview: Photographer Halan Le
The uplifting and ambitious Halan Le gave us some brief words to describe her outgoing perspective, and how lucky we are to share it!
What was it that got you to pick up a camera?
I’ve always been into art, and photography is another form of art. I was curious of this different kind of art, so that’s what got me pick up a camera.
How would you describe your vision/style?
I don’t believe I have a specific style, but I do like to take pictures that cherish memories or something that looks good to me. I don’t think my style is too limited because I love to try new things.
How would say your photography comes into its own?
When it comes to photography, it’s like a whole different world. Photography is creating a form of art within less than a second, which is absolutely amazing.
What does your gear set up look like?
For my gear, I use my Canon Rebel SL1 and 50mm f/1.8 lens.
How has being a photographer made an impact on you and your life?
Being a photographer has changed so many things within my life. I have met so many incredible people, some who I have grown very close to. Photography was my way to connect with people and be able to come out of my shell and go try new things.
What is your all time favorite quote?
My favorite quote would be, “Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” -Confucius. This is my favorite because it’s absolutely true, and living simply and in the moment is what makes life worth it.
How do you keep your inner critic at bay?
I’ve had problems with my inner critic, but I eventually get over it and move on instead of thinking and criticizing for minutes I could be spending doing other leisures.
What other things do you do in addition to being a photographer? Are you a vegetarian? A student? Are you in a band?
I am currently a student who is aspiring to become a biomed-engineer. I am also an athlete, and the sport I do is swimming (which takes up most of my time during the weekdays). I also do art (studio); I love to paint and draw all the time and I’m currently taking AP Studio Art just for fun to explore what I can do with art.
